Elizabeth T. McAdam

Eastman Kodak employee

Elizabeth T. McAdam, 99, died peacefully on Friday December 26, 2003 at Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester. She was born the daughter of John and Elizabeth Keith Tennant on February 12, 1904 in Edinbourough, Scotland. She was formerly employed at Eastman Kodak. Co. She was predeceased by her husband Robert K. McAdam She is survived by her sons, Robert (Mary) McAdam of Fairport, John McAdam of Rochester, daughters Margaret (Vincent) Matheson of Chili, Elizabeth (John) Martin of Canandaigua and Joan (Eric) Rice of Webster. She leaves her grandchildren, Stephen and John Martin, John Matheson, Janet Hainsey, Robert, Thomas and David McAdam, Eleven great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Friends may attend funeral services Tuesday Dec. 30, 2003 at the KEVIN W. DOUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, INC., Route 15, Livonia, with the Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial will take place in Florida. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Monroe Community Hospital, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, N.Y. 14620.

William Bradley Root

Retired plant manager

William Bradley Root, 86, a retired plant manager for International Salt Company in Retsof, died Dec. 28, 2003 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Root resided on Haley Avenue in Geneseo and previously resided in both Kenneth City, Fla. and York, N.Y. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Baldeck Root; his children, Ronald (Joyce) Root of Havre de Grace, Md., Gary (Maureen) Root of Geneseo, Barbara (Douglas) Higgins of York, Roger (Kathleen) Root of Geneseo; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Christina) Root, Ann Marie (David) Smith, Meghan (Joe Bucci) Root, Eric (Rochelle) Pray, Kaitlin, Kelly, Molly and Jimmy Root; two great grandchildren, Summersett and Cecelia Smith; several nieces and nephews. He was born Sept. 7, 1917 in York, the son of William H. and Elizabeth (Moon) Root. He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. He was an active member in the Garden Crest Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. where he served as an Elder and Deacon before returning to Geneseo. He retired from International Salt Company in 1981 as General Manager of Production in Clark Summit, Pa. and served the Retsof Mine as Plant Manager. Visitation, Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Tuesday Dec. 30 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. at the York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neil Frood officiating. Interment, Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York. Memorial may be made to the York United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 41, York NY 14592 or the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo NY 14454.

Betty J. Smith

Wayland resident

Betty J. Smith, 78, of 8642 Carney Hollow Road, Wayland passed away Dec. 27, 2003 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Health Care Facility in Geneseo. Betty was born March 8, 1925 in Medina, N.Y., the daughter of Leon and Marian (Wilkie) Corbin. She resided her early years in many different towns that included Henrietta, Geneva and West Bloomfield. In 1974 she moved to the Wayland area where she has remained ever since. Betty was a graduate of Pittsford Central School in 1943 and subsequent to high school she enjoyed employment as a bookkeeper at Sagin Horton in Honeoye Falls and the Rush Oil Company in Rush. On Sept. 11, 1954 Betty and Paul C. Smith entered into a loving marriage. Upon marrying Paul, Betty enjoyed a couple more years of employment prior to becoming a homemaker for the rest of her life. Together they celebrated over 46 years of marriage prior to his passing away in October of 2000. Betty loved to make crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and she loved to bake. Scarecrows were a favorite collectible of Bettyıs. However, what Betty enjoyed most was her family. She would spend time with them whenever possible and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Over the years, she was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Conesus American Legion. Betty was predeceased by her husband Paul C. Smith and a daughter Paula J. Smith. She is survived by her loving daughter JoAnn Willis and her husband Gordon of Wayland; her granddaughter Carla Barcomb and her husband Jim of Avon; grandson Timothy Willis and his wife Amber of Conesus; two great grandsons, Mikel and Mayson Willis; very special friends of the family, Sue and Jim Kretchmer and family of Conesus and Hemlock; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and two sisters-in-law. Family and friends called Monday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St. in Wayland where her Funeral Service was conducted Tuesday. Interment, Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lima.
