Louise K. Alianell

Retired tax collector

Louise K. Alianell, 91, a retired tax collector for York Central School, died Jan. 24, 2004 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. Mrs. Alianell resided in Macedon and was previously from Piffard. She is survived by three daughters, Joanne (John) McCaffrey of Victor, Marlene Internicola of Commack, N.Y., Elaine (Terry) Algier of Victor; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Agnes Bonaquisti of Mt. Morris; three brothers, George (Dorothy) Alessio of Syracuse, James (Phyllis) Alessio of Seneca Falls and Ronald (Linda) Alessio of Cato, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. She was born Feb. 28, 1912 in Piffard the daughter of George and Georgetta (Pissaro) Alessio. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School and Rochester Business Institute. She was also employed as Postmistress of the Piffard Post Office, secretary for Vitale Brothers Construction and SUNY at Geneseo dining services. No prior calling hours. Funeral Mass was held Jan. 27 at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Joseph V. Christiano

Retired VP of Met-Life

Joseph V. Christiano, 76, a retired Vice President for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company based in New York City, died Jan. 16, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Christiano resided on Genesee St. in Greigsville. He is survived by his wife of 54 Peggy Lang Christiano; his children, Jeri (George) Levesque of St. Charles, Mo., Scot (Ann) Christiano of Norwich, Vt., Thomas (Kathleen) Christiano of Huntington, Conn., Marianne (Jerry) Prior of Narragansett, R.I.; seven grandchildren; his brother Edward (Joy) Christiano of Clearwater, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born Aug. 11, 1927 in Greigsville, the son of Vincent and Philomena (Minisci) Christiano. He graduated high school in York and was a graduate of Sampson College in Geneva, N.Y. Through his career with Met-Life he was able to achieve the highest honor bestowed in the insurance industry, a Charter Life Underwriter. He was a member of St. Thomas/St. Lucy's Parish where he served on numerous committees. He enjoyed sailing and camping while traveling in his motor home. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo on Jan. 18. Funeral Mass was held Jan. 19 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Leicester with Father Michael Brown officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Retsof Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 92, Retsof NY 14539.

Jerry W. Ezard Sr.

Henrietta resident

Jerry W. Ezard Sr., 59, of Henrietta, died Jan. 23, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born Aug. 14, 1944 in Batavia to Edward and Florence (Grant) Ezard. He retired from LeRoy Lime and Crushed Stone, and was member of the Local 118 Teamsters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dori Saltzman; his children, Joshua and Georgiana Saltzman, all of Henrietta, Jerry W. Ezard Jr. of Fla.; two grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jane Ezard of Byron; several nieces and nephews. His brother, Edward Ezard predeceased Jerry. Friends attended his Funeral Service Sunday at the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford. Willie Lee Layne

Willie Lee Layne, 95, a resident of the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo, died there Jan. 26, 2004. She is survived by two nieces, Pat Foster of Massapequa, N.Y. and Pauline Turner of Billings, Mont. She was preceded in death by her husband William Layne in 1964. She was born May 3, 1908 in Saford, Ala. the daughter of Samuel and Adeline (Dennis) Moore. She married her husband William Layne on June 23, 1963. No prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial, Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. Pearl M. McKelvey

Retired sales clerk

Pearl M. McKelvey, 79, a retired sales clerk for Smith Lumber and Hardware in Lakeville, died Jan. 25, 2004 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Mrs. McKelvey had been a resident at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo since 1998 and previously lived on Reservoir Road in Geneseo. She is survived by two sons, Richard McKelvey of Geneseo, Andy (Nancy) McKelvey of Buffalo; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Robert ( (Madeline) Peri of Geneseo; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter “Les” McKelvey and her son James McKelvey. She was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Lima, the daughter of Nicholas and Augusta (Meyers) Peri. She was a member of the East Avon First Presbyterian Church. Visitation was held Tuesday at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services were held Jan. 28 with Rev. Tom Taylor of the East Avon First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneseo. Grace D. Sinclair

Retired teacher

Grace D. Sinclair, 84, of Caledonia, died Jan. 20, 2004 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 18, 1919 in York to John and Florence Donnan. Grace retired from teaching at the Irondequoit School District. She is survived by her husband, H. Peter “Pete” Sinclair of Caledonia; son Bruce and his fiancée, Tina Somins and her daughter, Phyllis; three nephews, Ted (Joan) Andrews, Paul Andrews and John Pruyne; her sisters, Elizabeth Andrews and Margaret Pruyne predecease Grace. Friends called Monday at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St. in Caledonia. Her Memorial Service was held Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 W. Main St., Caledonia. A spring interment at Mumford Rural Cemetery is planned. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance, 1 Tountas Ave., LeRoy, NY 14482.
