JoAnn Linda Barney

JoAnn Linda Barney, 47, of 14 Trelayne Place, Mt. Morris, died Jan. 26, 2003 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born the daughter of Benjamin J. and Irene M. (Kovalefsky) Barney III on April 7, 1955 in Lyons, N.Y. She graduated from Lyons Central School in 1973 and earned her bachelors degree in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester in 1994. She was pursuing her Masters Degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She taught sixth grade at Mt. Morris Central School since 1995. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waterloo. She is survived by her son Thomas C. Meyer of Mt. Morris; three sisters, Ruth (Terry) LaBelle of Waterloo, Linette (Fred) Cheetham of Sodus and Lorrie Mosblack of West Virginia; one brother, Alan (Karen) Barney of North Rose; one nephew; eight nieces; several cousins and many dear and loving friends and students. She was predeceased by her parents Benjamin J. Barney III in 1996 and Irene Barney in 1978, grandparents Benjamin J. Barney II in 1989 and Harriet Barney in 1994, brother-in-law Tim Mosblack in 1993, and three cousins, Arthur Williams in 1989, Shawn Barney in 1992 and Lynne Irene Morris on September 11, 2001. No prior calling. Memorial services to be held Friday at the United Methodist Church, East William St., Waterloo at 7 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Morris Central School, Bonadonna Ave., Mt. Morris at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pluta Cancer Center, 224 Alexander St., Rochester NY 14607 or the Mt. Morris Teachers Association Scholarship Fund, C/O Mt. Morris Central School, Mt. Morris NY 14510. Arrangements by the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. in Mt. Morris.

Thomas M. Carman

Thomas M. “Butch” Carman, 63, retired from the Town of Groveland Highway Department, died Jan. 23, 2003 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He resided on Groveland Hill Road. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judith Sewell Carman; four sons, David (Cindy) Carman of Groveland, Daniel (Jackie) Carman of Geneseo, Donald (Lori) Carman of Wayland, Douglas (Lisa) Carman(son) of Sommerville MA; six grandchildren, Steffen, Colin, Kyle, Tyler, Shane and James Carman; two brothers, Leon (Helen) of Groveland, Timothy Carman of Texas; four sisters, Judith (Ron) Buck of New Jersey, Mary Alice (Burt) Zingari of Amherst, Cindy Fallen of NE, Kathleen (Robert) Scheidt of New Jersey; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Leon R. Carman, his mother Mary Alice McCauley Carman and his brother David Carman. He was born June 30, 1939 in Point Pleasant, N.J., the son of Leon and Mary (McCauley) Carman. He was a member of the Groveland Federated Parish. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Saturday. Funeral services were held Jan. 27 at Groveland Federated Parish with Rev. Sally Glassbrook officiating. Spring interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse NY 13220.

Doris R. Johnson

Doris R. Johnson, 86, of Columbia St., Honeoye, died Jan. 19, 2003 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born the daughter of William and Cora Wisotzke on Aug. 11, 1916 in Rochester. She was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, retiring in 1972 after 29 years of employment. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word in Rochester and the Honeoye United Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband Robert; daughter Carol (David) Caton; grandchildren, Scott (Jeannette) Comfort, Pamela Comfort, Tricia (Dave) Brown; great grandchild Dylan Mason Comfort; sister, Gloria (John) Miller; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Wednesday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Briggs St. in Honeoye. Her Funeral Service was held Thursday at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, 597 East Ave., Rochester. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Honeoye United Church of Christ.

Helen M. McCann

Helen M. McCann, 91, of Conesus Lake, died Jan. 22, 2003 at St. John's Home in Rochester. She was born the daughter of Henry and Ella Mack Moon on Dec. 27, 1911 in Scranton, Pa. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Livonia, the Silver Liners, and the Catholic Daughters. She was a registered nurse at Rochester Community Hospital and was also employed by Dr. Matlin in Geneseo. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1989. She is survived by her son James and Marilyn McCann of Conesus Lake; daughters Patricia and Paul Peterson of Medway, MA, Jane O'Brien of Webster; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Marshall of South Carolina, Romaine Hertzel of California, Carmel “Gail” (Chuck) Harradine of Fairport, Ann (Robert) Rausch of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Monday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia. Her Funeral Mass was held Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, Washington St. in Livonia with the Rev. John H. William J. Palmer

William J. Palmer, 70, of 3074 Wildcat Road, Mt. Morris (Tuscarora), died Jan. 26, 2003 at his winter home in Sebring, Fla. He was born the son of Vern and Iola (Billings) Palmer on Jan. 9, 1933 in Hume, N.Y. He married Marion Paddock on October 26, 1957. He was employed as an electrician for over 40 years at Foster Wheeler in Dansville where he served as Union President of the IAMAW Local 1665. He was a Veteran of the Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscarora, Tusky Sportsman Club, Arkport American Legion and Dansville VFW. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Marion Palmer; two children, Denise Kay (Jon) Bentley and Douglas James Palmer, both of Mt. Morris; seven grandchildren, Eric, Andrea and Courtney Bentley, Kevin, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Alex Palmer; three brothers, Ronald (Elaine) Palmer of Mt. Morris, David (Shirley) Palmer of Dansville and Robert (Debbie) Palmer of Dansville; three sisters, Lorraine Hazelett of Dansville, Betty (Henry) McLoud of Springwater and Helen (Bob) White of Dansville; many nieces and nephews. Services and interment to be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Good Shepard Hospice Highlands, 2121 S.E. Lakeview Dr., Sebring, FL 33870. Arrangements by the John W.
