In Memoriam

Elinor E. Green

Occupational therapist

Elinor E. Green, a longtime resident of Mt. Morris, died on April 16, 2004 at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of Glenn Green who predeceased her. She worked as an occupational therapist at Graig Colony in Sonyea and also at Buffalo State Hospital. She was an active member of the United Church of Mt. Morris and the Order of Eastern Star, Mt. Morris Chapter. She devoted her life to loving and nurturing her family. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Donald O'Brien of cherry Hill, N.J., and Marcia and Thomas Sardinia of Hamburg, N.Y.; two brothers, Arthur and John Erickson; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday April 24, at the United Church of Mt. Morris where the family will greet friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the United Church of Mt. Morris or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements: John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris.

Elizabeth Jane Keller

SUNY Professor Emeritus

Elizabeth Jane "B.J." Keller, 90, professor emerita of English at the State University of New York at Geneseo, died April 13 at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon following a brief illness. She was a resident of Avon and a former resident of Geneseo. She was born in Minneaoplis, Minn. to John Phillip Keller and Louise C. Eversoll. She came to work at Geneseo in 1950 and served as director of public relations at the college in addition to her teaching responsibilities. She retired from the college in 1972. She is survied by her brother, Phillip (Bobbi) Armstrong of Los Alamos, N.M., and several nieces and nephews. No prior calling hours. Interment, Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Olive E. Mercer

Retired school nurse

Avon: Olive E. "Eddy" mercer, 86, died on April 17, 2004 at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon. She was formerly of New Canaan, Conn. and the Pinehurst Senior Living Community in Honeoye Falls. Mrs. Mercer was born on Dec. 4, 1917 in Belfast, Ireland, the daughter of John and Mary Jane Clements. She was a retired School nurse and worked at the New Canaan Country School in New Canaan, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband Jack B. Mercer in 1989. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Dr. Alan) Cohn of Hermosa Beach, Calif. and Laurie Mercer of Honeoye Falls; two grandchildren, Amanda Hindson and Adam Hindson. Services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Stehenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. in Avon.

Alice M. Saunders

Teacher

Alice M. Saunders, 87, formerly of 46 Avon Road in Geneseo, died April 14, 2004 at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo. She was born Feb. 18, 1917 in Buffalo, the daughter of James Saunders and Johanna Gantley. She was a teacher at Letchworth Center School and a communicant of St. Mary's church in Geneseo. She was predeceased by a brother, James Saunders. She is survived by one sister, Beatrice Lavery of Perry Center; and several nieces and nephews. No prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Rev. Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund.

Virginia S. Trost

Avon resident

Virginia S. Trost, 55, of Bronson Hill Road, Avon, died april 16, 2004. She was born the daughter of Richard and Vera Tubro Remito on July 5, 1948 in Rochester. She is survived by her husband Thomas; daughter Rachel and granddaughter Sierra Trost, all ov Avon; sisters, Mary, Patricia, Judy Peters, Joan (Ted) Clapperton, Carol (Jim) Blanda; brothers, David (Barbara) Remito, Richard (Dierdre) Remito, Kathy (Bill) Wilson; father-in-law George (Toni) Trost; brother-in-law Robert Trost; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Friends called Monday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia where Funeral Services were held Tuesday with the Rev. George Davis officiating.
