Alexander A. Peter

Alexander A. Peter, 73, a retired sanitation engineer for the City of Rochester, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon, where he had been a resident since March. Mr. Peter lived in Rochester prior to his entry into the nursing home. He is survived by 2 daughters: Sharon (Jeffery) Foster-Dale of Geneseo and Valerie Peter of Lakeville, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer and Brian Bledsoe, Christina Foster, Tricia and Nanette Peter, 2 great grandchildren: Elizabeth Bledsoe and Skyler Foster, 4 stepchildren: Bonnie (Joseph) Murphy of Rochester, Carol (Michael) Shattuck of Rochester, Sandy Unell of Rochester, Richard Bombard of Rochester, 10 step grandchildren: Melissa and Kenny Bombard, Jessi, Terry and Michele Shattuck, Ronnie and Sheila Unell, Katrina, Britany and Ricky Bombard, Arial Bombard, dear friends: Marilyn Bombard of Avon, Angelina Cassavaugh of Geneseo and Richard “Potsie” Potter of Rochester. He was born February 4, 1928 in Trenton, New Jersey, the son of Paul and Agnes (Howatt) Peter. He was a graduate of Charlotte High School. He served in the Marines from 1946-1948 and the Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until his discharge in 1955. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home on May 17. Funeral services were held May 21, 2001 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home with Father William Gordinier of St. Mary's Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or the American Lung Association 1595 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14620.

Shannon J. Bailey-Brooks

Mrs. Shannon J. Bailey-Brooks, 20, died suddenly May 12, 2001 as a result of a tragic automobile accident in Copperas Cove, Texas. Shannon was born January 23, 1981 in Port Smith, VA the daughter of Craig Bailey and Joan Foust. She was a graduate of Avon Central School in the class of 2000. She is survived by her husband Leroy Brooks; father Craig Bailey (Stormy Leibenguth); mother Joan Mcarthey; sisters Erica Bailey, Megan Housser, Stacy Stowers; brother Michael Bennedict; step-mother Wanda Bailey; paternal grandparents John (Barbara) Bailey; maternal grandmother Joyce Foust; 2 step sisters Kelly, Lindsay Salisbury; 1 step brother Nicky Salisbury; aunt Beverly (Edward) Senecker; 3 uncles Mark Bailey (Sharon Warner), Frank (Melanie) Bailey, Gary Bailey (Jennifer Wooster); several cousins. Calling hours were held at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Avon. Her Funeral Service was held at the Avon United Methodist Church. Rev. Larry Beman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Avon Central School (191 Clinton Street, Avon, NY 14414) in Shannon Bailey's memory. Interment Avon Cemetery.

Agnes May

Agnes May, 88, a retired postal worker for the US Post Office in Hicksville, NY, died Sunday, May 20, 2001 at her residence, 24 Melody Lane in Geneseo, NY. She is survived by her son Lawrence (Beatrice) May of Geneseo, NY; grandchildren Helena (Scott) Broutman of Geneva, Donald Gillespie of TX, Timothy Gillespie of CO, Sabrina (Jerry) Holton of Las Vegas, Roger (Rhonda) Gillespie of VT, Robert May of Geneseo; 5 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank P. May in 1978. She was born July 13, 1912 in Glasgow, Scotland the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Stobie) Allan. She was a lifetime member of the Bellmore VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation was held at the Bartholomew & Sons Funeral Home in Bellmore, NYon Wednesday May 23, 2001 from 7-9:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Livingston County Hospice, Liv. Co. Campus BLDG #2, Mt. Morris NY 14510 or Grace Cottage “Foundation Box 1 Townshend, VT 05353 Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church.
