Anna Elizabeth Andrews

Anna Elizabeth Andrews, infant daughter of Alice Andrews and Gordon Dowd, died July 31, 2001, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. In addition to her parents she is survived by her brother Riley Nelson Andrews and twin brother Alan Robert Andrews, both at home; maternal grandparent, Ted and Joan Andrews of Piffard; paternal grandparents, Robert and Alice Dowd of Rochester; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother and namesake Anna E. Andrews on May 14, 1999 and great grandfather Leland Andrews on Jan. 9, 2001. She was born on July 23, 2001, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Memorials may be made to the family at 2462 Craig Rd., Piffard NY 14533. Graveside services were held Aug. 4 in Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo with Rev. Mark Lattime of St. Michael's Episcopal Church officiating. Evangeline Bartholomew

Evangeline “Vangie” Bartholomew, 84, a retired self employed hairdresser, died Aug. 3, 2001, at her residence, 2741 Chestnut St. in York. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Bartholomew of York, Martha (James) Stuart of Avon; three sisters, Marian (Howard) Marshall of Avon, Norma Lokken, Betty Zwerger of Geneseo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of wonderful friends all of whose lives she touched with God's love. She was preceded in death by her husband “Bart” in 1979, her brothers, Leo, George and Cy Linton, sister, Frances Parke and Evelyn Adamson. She was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Groveland, the daughter of Sidney and Martha (Linsner) Linton. Memorials may be made to Livingston County Hospice, Livingston County campus, Bldg. #2, Mt. Morris NY 14510 or York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St., Box 41, York 14592 or York Ambulance Fund, Box 95, York 14592. Ralph H. Bliss

Ralph H. Bliss, 79, died on July 28, 2001 at the Teresa House Hospice in Geneseo. He was born July 13, 1922, in West Bloomfield, N.Y, the son of Rolland A. Bliss and Marian (Fisher) Bliss. He was retired from the Victor Insulator in Victor, N.Y. He was predeceased by his wife Arlene C. (Comings) Bliss in 1991. He is survived by his nephew Charlie Cook; great nieces, Gail McCarthy of Penn Yan, N.Y., Judi Frizelle of New Hartford, N.Y., Julie Appleton of Canandaigua; great nephew David Appleton of Canandaigua; also many loving friends and relatives. Funeral Services were held at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Geneseo with Rev. Roy Pierce and Duane Holmquist officiating. Mildred M. Coen

Mildred M. Coen, 68, of DeBary, Fla., formerly of Avon, died July 20, 2001. She was born May 5, 1933, in Caswell, Maine, the daughter of Joseph and Julie (Levesque) Lavoie. She was predeceased by her first husband Wallace Bouchard. She is survived by her husband Francis Coen; three daughters, Gala (Arnold) Boutot of Goldsboro, N.C., Brenda (Howard) Forsythe of Avon and Wanda (Phil) Inman of Cameron, N.C.; two sons, Don Bouchard of Raleigh, N.C. and Rodney (Barbara) Bouchard of Pavilion; two stepchildren, Michael Coen and Georgia and Deborah Lopez of Nevada; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchildren; three brothers, Adrian, Alphonse and John Lavoie; one sister Irene Jalbert. Joseph “Doc” Costanza

Joseph “Doc” Costanza, 88, of Rush, formerly of Avon, died July 25, 2001, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born Jan. 28, 1913, in Rochester, the son of Anthony and Angela Maria (Ruiz) Costanza. Doc had been a truck driver for General Railway Signal for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose DeFranco Costanza; four sons, Anthony J. of Rochester, Jerome J. of Florida, Francis J. (Bonnie) of Livonia and Ronald J. of Honeoye: four grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Luke and Joseph; one brother Steve (Mary) Costanza of Rochester; three sisters, Margaret DiPrima and Jennifer Maenza, both of Rochester and Mamie (Jim) Brunicindi of New Mexico; nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends called July 27 at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. in Avon. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. Agnes Church in Avon with Rev. Thomas Statt officiating. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery.

Richard C. Cuozzo Sr.

Richard C. Cuozzo, 65, a retired electrician for SUNY at Geneseo, died Aug. 1, 2001 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Cuozzo lived on York Road in Leicester. He is survived by his wife Judy; his children, David (Kelly) Cuozzo of Leicester, Richard (Diane) Cuozzo Jr. of Perry, Brenda (Paul) Simmons of Piffard; Steve (Joanne) Cuozzo of Piffard; Aimy (Tim) Wolfanger of Leicester; six grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Boyd of Wadsworth and Mary (Mitch) Gibbs of Wadsworth; two brothers, Joseph (Carol) Cuozzo Sr. of Piffard and Frank Cuozzo Jr. of Wadsworth; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Cuozzo Sr., and his mother, Bridget Ferrando Cuozzo. He was born July 31, 1936, in York, the son of Frank and Bridget (Ferrando) Cuozzo Sr. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family at 4382 York Rd., Leicester NY 14481. Funeral Mass was held Aug. 4 at St. Lucy's Church with Father George Okoth officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family.

Catherine DeHollander

Catherine DeHollander, 91, died July 30, 2001, in Gainesville, Ga. Mrs. DeHollander was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Rochester, the daughter of the late Tjibbe and Nellie (Koopmans) Velzing. She had been a long time resident of Rochester and Honeoye. She was the widow of Elmer DeHollander, former proprietor of Elmer's Brighton Garage, who died in 1986. Mrs. DeHollander graduated in 1924 from the Rochester Business Institute and worked for Robison Rochester Corporation as administrative assistant. For over 30 years she was secretary and bookkeeper for Elmer's Brighton Garage. Mrs. DeHollander was predeceased by a brother, Carl Velzing, who died in 1999. Her survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Donald Decker and Janet and Paul Desmarais; four grandchildren, Kevin Macvaugh, Kristen Desmarais, Kathryn Desmarais and Jason Desmarais; one niece Agnes O'Daniel of East Leroy, Mich.. Her extended family includes grandchildren, Paul Beam, Mark Decker, Sarah (Decker) Wright and Emily (Decker) Gregg. Mrs. DeHollander was a member of the United Church of Christ in Honeoye. She also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, Eagle Star Chapter #350. Friends called Saturday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 8796 Briggs St. in Honeoye followed by a funeral service at the Honeoye United Church of Christ with the Rev. Glenn Evans officiating. David C. Denton

David C.Denton, 66, of Avon, died July 25, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Janet Adams Denton; his sister, Carol (Vern) Greer of Avon; an aunt, niece, nephew and cousins. Friends called Friday and Saturday at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. in Avon where his Funeral Service was held Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Taylor officiating. Mary E. “Betty” Eager

Mary E. “Betty” Eager, 74, died July 24, 2001, at her residence, 26 Westview Crescent in Geneseo. Mrs. Eager was predeceased by her husband Russell G. Eager on May 3, 1993. She is survived by her sister-in-law Irene Little of Hollywood, Fla.; a niece, a nephew and several cousins. She was born April 12, 1927 in York, the daughter of Charles and Esther (Myers) Whitney. She retired from the Wayland-Cohocton Central School where she was a beloved Social Studies teacher and Guidance Counselor for 34 years. She was an active member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Wayland-Cohocton Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of University Women, Geneseo Monday Evening Class, the General Federation of Women's Clubs, and the Geneseo United Methodist Church. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home on July 26. Richard Kelly Frew

Richard Kelly Frew, Sr., 60, died on August 2, 2001 at the Parkridge Hospital in Rochester, New York. Mr. Frew was born on November 3, 1940 in Rochester, New York, the son of Vincent Frew, and Francis (Kelly) Frew. He was a retired conductor with the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his two sons Michael S. Frew, and Jeff S. Frew in 1991. He is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law Charles (Christine) Frew of Avon, NY, James Frew of Avon, NY, Richard Frew, Jr. of Honeoye; 2 sisters Carol Frew of Mt. Morris, NY Kathy Frew of Vernon, NY; 2 brothers and sister-in-law George Frew of Wayland, NY, Leo (Franie) Frew of Avon, NY, 3 grandchildren Cassandra, Caitlyn, Brian Frew; several nieces and nephews. Anna M. Jans

Anna M. Jans, 90, of Lima, died July 27, 2001, at the F.F. Thompson Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua. She was born March 31, 1911, in Mendon, N.Y., the daughter of Wilhelm and Anna (Buckman) Hacker. Anna was a member of the Lima Presbyterian Church and its Women's Circle and also the Lima Grange. She was predeceased by her husband John Jans in 1991, daughter Lulu Anne Hembree in 1978 and son Norman Carl Jans in 1962. She is survived by daughter Carolyn (Douglas) Buckland of Crown Point, N.Y.; one son Edwin (Grace) Jans of Burkburnett, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; one sister Florence Gruschow of Henrietta; nieces and nephews. Friends called on Monday at the O'Connell-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. in Lima. Her Funeral Service was held July 31 at the Lima Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alfred Morse officiating. Catherine B. Least

Catherine B. Least, 94, a retired seamstress for Champion Products in Geneseo, died July 25, 2001, at Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. Mrs. Least lived on Lima Road in Geneseo prior to her entry into the skilled nursing facility. She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Donald) Schwendy of Geneseo; two sons, Frank (Alma) Least of Canandaigua and Thomas Least of Spring Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Jenny Andolina of Mt. Morris, Lena Piriano of Mt. Morris and Grace (Anthony) Munto of Rochester; four brothers, Joseph Bellanca of Batavia, Frank (Joan) Bellanca of Geneseo, Louis (Julia) Bellanca of Hornell and Philip (Margaret) Bellanca of Hornell; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Least on May 19, 1992. She was born Sept. 7, 1906, in Sicily, the daughter of Gaetano and Michela (Cordova) Bellanca. Richard J. Mann

Richard J. Mann, 52 of Pleasant St., Hemlock, died Aug. 2, 2001, at Highland Hospital in Rochester. He was born the son of Charles and Mary Jacobs Mann on Sept. 16, 1948, in Batavia. He was a truck driver for over 32 years for the Xerox Corporation in Webster. He is survived by his wife Susan Mann and son Bryan Mann, both of Hemlock; father, Charles J. Mann of Florida; brother Charles (Sue) Mann of Webster; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Services to be announced at a later date by the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15, Livonia.

Victoria M. Marcera

Victoria M. Marcera (Calucchia), 76, died Aug. 1, 2001, after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Frank) Gullo of Mt. Morris, James Marcera of Rochester, Gary (Antonietta) Marcera of Italy; granddaughter, Christina (Steven) Gullo-Paulus of Chili; several nieces and nephews and a community of friends at Wesley Gardens. Friends called Sunday at the Miller Funeral Homes, Inc., 3325 Winton Road, South. Her Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Anne Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Ave. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends may contribute to the St. Anne Church Memorial Fund or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy in her memory.

Charles J. Nasca

Charles J. Nasca, 89, of Erie St., Mt. Morris, died July 23, 2001, at his home. He was born the son of Giorlando and Josephine Liberti Nasca on May 13, 1912 in Mt. Morris. He was a member of the local union #85 in Rochester and was a life long communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Morris. He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1964, daughters, Agnes in 1959 and Amelia in 2001. He is survived by his children, Judi (Warner) Gibbs of Penn Yan, Berneice (James) Gallagher of Roanoke, Va., Marti (Eric) Morith of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Charles Nasca II of Garden City, Kan., Joseph (Edna) Nasca of Corvallis, MT., John (Laurie) Nasca of Mt. Morris, Roselena (Pat) Smith of Mt. Doris R. Passage

Doris R. Passage, 97, a retired telephone operator for Rochester Telephone's Geneseo office, where she worked for 42 years, died July 24, 2001, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Mrs. Passage lived on Second St. in Geneseo, prior to her illness. She is survived by several cousins including Robert (Doris) Yull of Geneseo, and dear friend Emily Kemak of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest on March 14, 1975. She was born Aug. 17, 1903, in Leicester, the daughter of Samuel and Daisy (Martin) Redmond. She was a member of Geneseo United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and Geneseo Young at Heart. Visitation was held at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home on Thursday where an Eastern Star Service was held. Claire J. Perkins

Claire J. Perkins, 68, died July 25, 2001, at her summer residence, 141 Davis Road in Wayland. She was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Glens Falls, N.Y. the daughter of Clifford and Alfreda Gingras. She spent most of her early and growing up years in the family hometown of Winehendon MA. Marriage and childbearing years were spent in North Carolina, Washington, D.C., New Jersey and Fairport, N.Y. The last 20 years were spent in Cape Coral, Fla. She was a registered nurse, operating nurse and supervisor at Park Ridge and Cape Coral Hospitals. She was predeceased by her husband Richard R. Perkins in April 1999. She is survived by her children, Donna (Mark Quinlan) Perkins, Richard M. Perkins and Reid (John Sick) Perkins; grandchildren, Alanna Quinlan, Travis and Ben Sick; a sister-in-law Jean (Charles) Joslin. No prior calling. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the direction of the family. Memorials may be made in memory of Claire Perkins to the Loon Lake Chapel, Wayland NY 14572. Elizabeth Ann Rader

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Peck) Rader, 72, died suddenly on July 23, 2001, at her home in Lima after a long illness. She was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Lima, the daughter of Clifford Peck and Pauline (Flood) Peck. She was a member of the Lima Presbyterian Church, Circle Deborah and the Lima Golden Agers. She was a graduate of the Genesee Hospital School of Nursing. She loved to garden, make crafts and spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Miles “Harley” Rader of Lima; seven children, Lynn (Gary) Sick of North Augusta, S.C., David (Cathy) Rader of Los Angeles, Calif., Paul (Lois) Rader of Canton, N.Y., Kimberly (Larry) Checho of Honeoye, Jayne Rader of Rush, Wendy (Mark) Evanicki of Hemlock, Thomas (Nicole Lebel) Rader of Rochester; sister and brother-in-law Clarice Peck (Richard) Willis of Saugerties, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services were held at the Lima Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alfreda Morse officiating. James D. Root

James D. Root, 62, died July 29, 2001, at Highland Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Rochester April 23, 1939, the son of Donald J. and Winifred (Harber) Root. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Geneseo Central School and attended St. Lawrence University for two years. He returned to Avon to work with his father at the family Red & White Grocery Store on Genesee St. which later was followed by Root's Avon Super Duper that he owned and managed. Jim later became a professional truck driver for AKG Trucking Company in Phelps, N.Y. He was a member of the Avon Fire Department since 1962, serving as chief from 1970 to 1972 and 1975 to 1978. He was a past member of the Avon Rotary-Lions Ambulance service and the Avon Rotary Club. He is survived by three children, Ann Schrader, Mary Root and Donald J. Root, all of Avon; three grandsons, Michael, Steven and Kyle Schrader; his sister Carol (Philip) Smith of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his wife Monica (Varlan) Root and daughter Robin Root. Friends called Wednesday at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc. in Avon. Victoria G. Salfity

Victoria G. Salfity, 85, a retiree from the Bank of New England in Boston, Mass., died July 31, 2001, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Salfity was previously from Boston. She is survived by her husband Joseph; two sons, Jim (Jane) Salfity of Carmel, Ind. and Mark (Patricia) Salfity of Indianapolis, Ind.; son-in-law Richard LaMarche of Geneseo; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter Aida LaMarche on Aug. 17, 1995. She was born March 16, 1916 in Tolkarem, Palestine, the daughter of George Durzi and Malaka Salfity. Visitation was held at St. Michael's Church, 23 Main St. in Geneseo on Saturday. Arianna Nancy Ann Steen

Arianna Nancy Ann Steen, 2, of 16 Walnut Street, Mt. Morris, died Aug. 2, 2001 at home. She was born the daughter of Kenneth D. Steen Jr. and Jennifer L. Ross on July 25, 1999 in Batavia. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Nancy Herold Ross in 1980. She is survived by her parents Kenneth and Jennifer of Mt. Morris, sister Brooke Berglund of Mt. Morris; grandparents Alvin and Deborah Ross of Conesus, Kenneth and Patti Steen, Bonnie and Mariano Laverde all of Mt. Morris; great grandparents Richard and Joyce Herold of Pavilion, Burt and Delores Ross of Dansville, Kenneth and Nancy Steen of Mt. Morris and Lucy Fisher of Perry; aunts and uncles Megan Ross of Conesus, Becky and Brian Steen, both of Mt. Morris, Jamie Fisher of Perry and Thomas Westoven of Geneseo; godparents Scott and Jessica Terry of Mt. Morris and Marie Osborne and Mike Stalica of Pavilion; several cousins and many dear friends. Daniel E. Suter

Daniel E. Suter, 85, of East Lake Road, Livonia, died July 22, 2001, at his home. He was born the son of Daniel and Ellen Jutsum Suter on Dec. 20, 1915, in Rochester. He was a World War II Navy Lt. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company, a member of the American Industry of Industrial Engineers, the Conesus Lake Association and Past Director of that organization. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Verna; son Brian Suter of Marble Colo.; several nieces and nephews. Service were held at the Episcopal Church on East Ave. in Rochester on July 27. Elizabeth H. “Betty” Turner

Elizabeth H. “Betty” Turner, 90, a retired teacher at Livonia Central School, died July 28, 2001, at her residence on Groveland Road in Geneseo. She is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Lucas of Mamaroneck, N.Y. and Josephine Hogan of Mahwah, N.J.; many nieces, nephew and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband William on Jan. 24, 1983. She was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Corning, N.Y., the daughter of Albert and Mary (O'Connor) Hogue. Betty was a member of St. Mary's Church where she was very active in neighborhood ministries. Visitation was held Wednesday at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Scholarship Fund, 13 North St., Geneseo NY 14454. Funeral Mass was held Aug. 2 at St. Mary' Church with Father Richard Beligotti officiating. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Addison, N.Y. at the convenience of the family.
