Rose C. Battaglia

Rose C. Battaglia, 86, a retired sales clerk for the Ben Franklin Store in Geneseo, died Sept. 8, 2001, at Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. Rose Lived at 600 Country Lane in Geneseo prior to her entry into the Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. She is survived by three brothers, Samuel Battaglia of Geneseo, Russell (Sally) Battaglia of New York City, Charles (Marie) Battaglia of Waterloo; two sisters, Frances (James) Kelly of Geneseo, Geraldine (Milton) Dickens of Venice, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was born Nov. 2, 1914 in Geneseo, the daughter of Charles and Lena (Pecora) Battaglia. She was a 1932 graduate of Geneseo High School and a member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Teresa House, 21 Highland Rd., Geneseo NY 14454 or Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo NY 14454. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at St. Mary's Church with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.

Richard T. Buell

Richard T. “Dick” Buell, 88, retired owner of Buell Oil Company in Geneseo, died Sept. 4, 2001, at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Buell was a resident at Sarasota, Florida and spent summers in Geneseo at Morgan Estates. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Wester Buell; daughter Cindy Boyer of Perry; grandchildren, David Boyer, Mindie Paquette and Wendy Buell; stepdaughters, Judy (Dan) Scoville of Geneseo and Barbara (Ronald) Parker of Canandaigua; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hope Buell in 1964; son Thomas Buell in 2000 and grandson, Richard Allen in 1986. He was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Perry, the son of Herbert and Caroline (Wilcox) Buell. Dick was a member of the Geneseo Rotary Club and awarded a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest honor for a Rotarian. Dick also was an avid fisherman. Visitation was held Thursday at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Prospect Hill Cemetery, 7284 Route 20A, Perry NY 14530. Memorial services were held Sept. 7 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo with the Rev. Doug Wilson of the First United Methodist Church of Perry officiating. Interment, Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry Center.

Julian L. DeClerck

Julian L. DeClerck, age 78 of Clark Road, Conesus died Friday, September 7, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born the son of Julian and Madeline Keirsbilck DeClerck on March 28, 1923 in Rochester, NY. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a self employed flooring contractor. He was a 55 year member of the American Legion and is currently a member of the Conlon Mulvaney American Legion in Conesus and a Committee Chairman/ Treasurer of the Hemlock Boy Scout Troop 175. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lucille. 7 loving children, Pamela (Dean) Kindig, Sheila (Jon Lake) DeClerck, Julian (Irene) DeClerck, Francis (Melinda Wander) DeClerck, Jacqueline (Danny) Johannsen, Amy (Todd) and Joan DeClerck. 10 grandchildren Michael (Michelle) and Ryan (Jenny) Kindig, Hans and Carissa Johannsen, Jason and Jenn DeClerck, Joshua James, Christopher, Eli and Julian Beard. Sister Irene (Ray) Dunn and brother Donald (Marianne) DeClerck. Many nieces and nephews. Friends called Sunday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home in Livonia. Nancy R. (LoVerde) Follett

Nancy R. (LoVerde) Follett, 62, of 46 Eagle St., Mt. Morris, died Sept. 4, 2001 at McAuley Manor in Hornell, N. Y. She was born on Jan. 14, 1939 in Dansville, the daughter of Mariano and Nellie (Palma) LoVerde. She married Michael A. Follett on Nov. 17, 1956. Prior to her retirement in 1995 she was employed as an Inspector at Champion Products for six years, she also was employed as a waitress at several area restaurants. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael; three children, Cheryl (James) Wiedemann of Conesus, Joseph (Jeanelle) Follett and James Follett, both of Mt. Morris; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters Mary (Angelo) Vattimo of Avon and Rose (Ron) Moyer of Mt. Morris; three brothers, Nick (Francine) LoVerde, Mike (Loretta) LoVerde and Mariano (Bonnie) LoVerde, all of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mt. Morris where funeral services were held Friday with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery. Nellie E. Glady

Nellie E. Glady age 80 formerly of 2488 County Route 90 of Wayland died September 9, 2001 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell. Nellie was born September 12, 1920 in Wayland the daughter of Henry and Mabel Gilman Grein and resided all of her life in Wayland. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph Church. She married Donald E. Glady on June 5, 1940 in St. Joseph Church in Wayland. Nellie was predeceased by her husband; Donald in 1999. 1 son; Richard Glady and 2 daughters; Theresa Glady & Donna Kunz. 1 sister; Catherine Kuhn. She is survived by 4 daughters; Linda (Richard) Henry of Fairport, Susan Harrison of Wayland, Roberts (Daryl) Wolfanger of N. Cohocton and Rebecca (Scott) Emmons of Atlanta, 1 son-in-law; James Kunz of Wayland, 2 sisters; Leona (William) Fitzpatrick of Springwater and Orlena Holowka of Rochester. 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends called Tuesday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home in Wayland. Prayer service was conducted followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wayland. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.

Chester W. Hanna

Chester W. Hanna age 82 of Bland Road, Hemlock, died Tuesday September 4, 2001 at the Teresa House in Geneseo. He was born the son of Chester and Gladys Adams Hanna on March 16, 1919 in Rochester, NY. He was a life long farmer in the area. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Amanda, his children; Carol (Gary) Parisella of Hemlock , Patricia (Neil) Nehrbass of Florida, Chester “Mark” (Nancy) Hanna of Elma, NY. Grandchildren Erik Hanna, Matthew Parisella, Johnathan and Lauren Hanna. Cousins Sherwood (Thelma) Hanna of Lakeville, Betty (Michael) Weiss of Ohio. Friends called Friday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, in Livonia where funeral services were held on Saturday with Rev. Timothy Hazlett officiating. Lorie J. Hartman (Shear)

Lorie J. Hartman (Shear), 42, o f North Street in Webster, died suddenly, Sept. 2, 2001. She was born the daughter of Leonard and Barbara Smith Shear on Nov. 29, 1958, in Canandaigua. She was employed at Ford Auto Collection in Rochester. She is survived by her parents, Leonard and Barbara Shear of Hemlock; her son, Shane William Hartman of Rochester; brother, Donald F. (Karla) Shear of Hemlock; sisters, Heather P. Shear of Walden, N.Y. and Barbara Mason of Lima; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., Route 15 in Livonia where services were held Friday with the Rev. Dick Hass officiating. Burial, Union Cemetery in Honeoye. Donald J. Kelly

Donald J. Kelly, 80, of Caledonia, died peacefully on Sept. 2, 2001, at home. He was born May 8, 1921, in Dalton, N.Y., to Florress J. and Francis (Baylor) Kelley. Donald served in World War II, and was a retired crane engineer for Atlas Wrecking in Rochester, and a member of the Humane Society of Rochester. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty Cornelius of Phelps, Kristine and Donald Tangen-Sigwalt of Caledonia, Donna and Robert Douglass of Mt. Morris, Denise and James Straight of Clifton, Judith and Gary Ward; sons, Donald (Skip) J. Kelly Jr. of Rochester, Donald (Butch) J. Kelley Jr.; grandchildren, Shane Kelly, D'Jay Kelly, Danielle Tangen, Derin Tangen, D'Marie Tangen, John Sigwalt, D'Nicole Tangen, Deidrea Tangen, Robert Smoke, Donald L. Sigwalt II, Robert Douglass, Donald J. Kelly III, Treven Kelly, Gage Kelly, Darci Roth, Dawn Roth, Jamie Dee Straight; great grandsons, William Hammond III and Hunter Mitchell; sister, Lydia Genova of Mt. Morris; stepbrother, Florress “Junior” (Carol) Kelley Jr.; best friend, Edna (Jim) Kelly. He was predeceased by his grandson, James Straight Jr. and sister, Enah Carrol. Austin George Kelly

Austin George Kelly, 71, of Mulberry, Fla., formerly of Mumford, died Aug. 24, 2001, in Florida after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 6, 1930, to Philip and Hazel (Allen) Kelly in Oneonta, N.Y. Austin was the former superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Caledonia. He was very active in the Mumford Fire Department, and served as Fire Chief. Austin served as Fire Assistant Coordinator for the 4th Battalion. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mumford, and Pine Grove Baptist Church in Willow Oak, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Laura (Sherman) Kelly of Mulberry; daughters, Kathleen Andrews of Charlotte, N.C., Cheryl (Wade) Goossens of Washington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother James Kelly of Utica and sister-in-law Olive Kelly of Sun City Center, Fla. Gary P. Levesque

Gary P. Levesque, 62, of East Lake Road in Honeoye, died Sept. 3, 2001, at his home after a long illness. He was born the son of Percy and Addie Babbin Levesque on July 31, 1939 in Ashland, Maine. He was an Air Force Veteran serving from 1957-1962. He was a postal carrier for 32 years at the Livonia Post Office. He is survived by his children, Bradley (Donna) Levesque of Ontario, N.Y., Michael Levesque of Honeoye, Karen (Brian) Nagy of Rush, N.Y., Ricky Levesque of Honeoye; grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Nagy of Rush, Ben and A. J. Hauser of Ontario, N.Y.; brothers and sisters, Rodney (Anne) Levesque of Atlanta, Carlton Levesque of Wayland, Robert Levesque of Atlanta, Sandra (Roger) Gilbert of Dansville, Judy (Jack) Gadeke of Virginia, Carol “Cubby” Schubmehl of Wayland, Milton (Nancy) Levesque of North Cohocton; Wayne Levesque of Florida. Irene M. Raczka

Irene M. Raczka, a retired secretary at the Livingston County Treasurer's Office, died Sept. 7, 2001 at Teresa House Hospice in Geneseo. Mrs. Raczka lived at 22 Temple Hill Acres in Geneseo. She is survived by her husband Walter; a favorite niece Marsha Marecki of Buffalo; grandniece Aimee Marecki of Buffalo; grandnephew John Marecki of Buffalo; several additional nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born March 26, 1922 in Buffalo, the daughter of Louis and Sophia (Maj) Kosnamanski. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo where she belonged to the Seton Group. Trowbridge Strong

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 am at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Geneseo for Trowbridge Strong. He passed away at home in Connecticut on July 27. He is survived by sons M. Corrin Strong of Geneseo, James W. Strong of Narberth, Pa., daughters Susan S. Kelley of Brighton, N.Y., Sarah S. Lomax of Niantic, Conn. and Alice S. Cleary of Rosemont, Pa., two brothers and ten grandchildren. Private interrment at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo.

Florence May Vokes

Florence May Vokes, 96, of Caledonia/LeRoy, died Sept. 3, 2001, at Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia. She was born July 19, 1905, to Francis Thomas and Margaret (Lottridge) Welsby in Caledonia, Canada. Florence worked at the Village Inn Restaurant in Caledonia for many year, and was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church's Women's Guild. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Rita Vokes of Caledonia; grandchildren, David (Margie) Vokes, Rick (Colleen) Vokes, Karen (Jim) Goodburlet; great grandchildren, Katie and Jordan Vokes, Mark and Courtney Goodburlet; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Welsby of Lima, June Vokes of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Roy Vokes. Friends called Thursday at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St. in Caledonia. Her Funeral Service was held Friday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Caledonia. Interment, Mumford Rural Cemetery, Mumford.
