Margaret A. Anderson

Medical lab technician

Margaret A. “Peggy” Anderson, 55, of 2446 State Road 436, Nunda, died Oct. 2, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born on May 15, 1948 the daughter of Edward and Lillian (Litteer) Anderson in Warsaw. She was employed at Strong Memorial Hospital as a Medical Lab Technician for seven years. She is survived by her mother Lillian Anderson of Nunda; three sisters, Melissa Anderson of Nunda, Mina (Richard) Sinsabaugh of Dalton and Rita (Don) Coon of Nunda; one brother Timothy (Barbara) Anderson of Nunda; four nieces, Kimberlee (Brian) Litteer, Lynn Bugman, Lisa (Joe) Worden and Shaunna Coon; two nephews, Jeffrey Anderson and Randy Coon. She was predeceased by her father Edward “Obie” Anderson in 1996. No prior calling. Memorial service to be announced at a later time by the John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Betty Skelly Coyne

RIT retiree

Betty Skelly Coyne, 83, died on Sept. 30, 2003 at her home in Avon. She was born Nov. 1, 1919 in Rochester, the daughter of John J. Skelly and Loretta (Miller) Skelly. She retired in 1985 after 20 years of service as a record keeper for the Rochester Institute of Technology College. Prior to her employment with RIT she worked for Albert C. Burke Insurance. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur B. Coyne in 1982. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Stephen) Avnet of Nazareth, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jason G. (Wendy) Costello of Arizona, Lindsay C. Avnet and Shane C. Avnet, both of Pennsylvania; great granddaughter Alexis; one brother, Charles L. (Emily) Skelly of Balston Lake, N.Y.; brother-in-law William Maxwell of MD; sister-in-law Helen Coyne; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. in Avon. Her Funeral Mass was held at St. Agnes Church with Rev. James Doyle officiating. Private interment, St. Agnes Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 County Campus, Mt. Morris NY 14510 in her memory.

Gerald G. Fisher

RG&E retiree

Gerald G. “Jerry” Fisher, 87, of Caledonia/Bradenton, Fla., died Sept. 24, 2003 at a Hospice in Bradenton. He was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Caledonia to George and Elizabeth (Skelly) Fisher. Jerry graduated as valedictorian of Caledonia High School, earned a degree in Massage Therapy and Reflexology and practiced 52 years, three years as president for the Massage Association, employed with Rochester Gas & Electric Corp., for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Carol (Krems) Fisher of Bradenton; four sons, Richard (Diane) Fisher, Craig (Pam) Fisher, all of Geneseo, Gerald “Joe” Fisher, Daniel (Judy) Fisher, all of Bradenton, Fla.; stepdaughter, Suzanne Davidson of Bradenton, Fla.; stepsons, Randy Johnson of Bradenton, and Mark Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, Harold and William Fisher; sister, Mary Freeman; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His wife, Gloria and son, Wayne predecease Jerry. Friends called Sunday at the Alhart funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. His Funeral Mass was held Monday at St. Columba Church. Nancy Keller Jones

Member of Genesee Valley Hunt

Nancy Keller Jones, 54, a veterinary assistant for the New York State Racing and Wagering Board at Fingerlakes Racetrack in Farmington, N.Y., died Oct. 6, 2003 at the Teresa House in Geneseo. Mrs. Jones formerly resided at Tadmor Farm in Avon and most recently Barber Hill Road in Geneseo. She is survived by her husband R. Benson Jones; daughter Jessica (Cory) Brown and grandson Aidan Patrick Brown, both of Denver, Colorado; stepson R. Jamieson Jones of Pittsford; sister Andrea Keller of Rochester; brother Martin Keller; and niece Lauren Keller, both of Atlanta, Ga.; special friends, Darcy (Pat) Lynch of Geneseo, Erica (Lynn) Waite of Dalton and Dr. Joseph (Nancy) O'Dea of Geneseo; and her canine companion Isabelle. She was born June 30, 1949 in Rochester the daughter of Gilbert and Catherine (Klein) Keller. She attended Nazareth Academy in Rochester. Nancy was a knowledgeable horsewoman and a member of the Genesee Valley Hunt. She has been a Director on the Board of the Genesee Valley Breeders Association for the last six years. She was a co-chairman of the Genesee Valley Breeders Show in Avon during 1999, 2000 and 2001. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Memorial services will be held Friday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Geneseo with Rev. Mark Lattime of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and Father Daniel McMullin of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Committal services will be on Friday afternoon at Tadmor Farm in Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Good Days and Special Times, 1332 Pittsford-Mendon NY 14506-9732 or the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo NY 14454.

Beatrice H. Lander

Dansville resident

Beatrice H. Lander, 85, currently of 10227 Main St., Dansville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, Oct. 4, 2003. She was born Oct. 2, 1918 in Springwater, the daughter of Nicholas and Rose (Fox) Mark. Beatrice and Milton Lander entered into a loving marriage Oct. 9, 1945 at St. Joseph's Church in Wayland. Together they enjoyed over 54 years of marriage prior to Milt's passing in June 2000. Bea and Milton resided for many years in Wayland, however in 1972, they built a home and moved to Dansville. Bea's children described her as a loving mother. She will be remembered most as a person that was always trying to keep busy and a meticulous cleaner. Whether it was cutting someone's hair, playing cards (especially pinochle), taking trips out west with her family, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, she had to keep busy. Also of significance was the annual family fishing trip to Canada where a cabin was rented and many fish stories began. Beatrice also could be seen most every Monday at the Sunrise in Dansville for coffee. She was a loving grandmother, and will surely be missed. She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband Milton. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Nicholas Mark Jr. and Kenneth Mark. She is survived by her children, Rodney Lander of Las Vegas, Nev. and her daughter Jean Luce of Dansville; her four grandchildren, Jaime Lander of Las Vegas, Justin Lander currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in Shreveport, La., Daniel Luce of Dansville and Emily Miner of Dansville; her sisters-in-law, Doris Alger and her husband Ray of Silver Creek, N.Y. Cecil Curtis of Mt. Morris, and Bess Lander of Mt. Morris; brothers-in-law, Elmer Lander and his wife Ila Mae of Atlanta, Glen Harloff (Shirley Gray); along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends called Monday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St., Wayland. A prayer service was conducted Tuesday morning at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wayland. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery in South Dansville. Contributions in Beatrice H. Lander's memory may be made to St. Joseph's School, 209 Fremont St., Wayland NY 14572.

Betty L. Strickland

Retired nurse

Betty L. Strickland, 68, of Lakeville Groveland Road, Geneseo, died Sept. 30, 2003. She was born the daughter of John and Ruth George Higgins on March 29, 1935 in Marion, N.C. She was a retired nurse at the Rochester Psychiatric Hospital in Rochester. She was predeceased by her husband George and her son Timothy. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Jim) Hassett of Geneseo, Debbie (Chuck) Swift of Rush, Kathy (Mark) Tobey of Henrietta; daughter-in-law Mary Strickland of Geneseo; seven grandchildren; her mother Ruth Bell of WI; sister Shirley (Sam) Burns of WI; brothers, Bill (Brenda) Higgins of Calif., John Higgins of North Carolina; sister-in-law June Strickland of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15 in Livonia where Funeral Services were held Friday with the Rev. Doug DellaPietra officiating.
