Mary D. Johnston (Davidson)

Mary D. Johnston, 93, of Rochester and Avon, died Oct. 8, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born on June 28, 1909 in Livonia Center the daughter of Matthew Davidson and Nancy (Lynn) Davidson. She was an active member of the South Presbyterian Church in Rochester and the 49ers. She was predeceased by her husband John McConnel Johnston in 1960, three brothers, James, Alexander and Wilson Davidson. She is survived by three loving nieces, Nancy (Russell) Toland of Caledonia, Jane (Richard) Batzel of East Avon, Linda (John) Rice of York; two loving nephews, Wilson (Sharlene) Davidson of East Avon, William (Michele) Davidson of Groveland; two sisters-in-law, Marion Davidson of East Avon, Geraldine Davidson of Geneseo; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; many loving friends, including the Patrick family of Fayetteville, N.Y. Calling hours and Funeral Services were held at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. in Avon with the Rev. Jamie Kenyon officiating. Interment, East Avon Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester NY 14623, in her memory.

Gerald F. Pringle

Gerald F. Pringle, 67, of Wadsworth, died suddenly Oct. 7, 2002 at his residence on Main St. He was a life long resident of the York area and a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He is survived by his wife Alice Doolittle Pringle; daughter Robin Pringle of York; son Rex (Karin) Pringle, and grandson Scott Jeffery Pringle, all of Wilmington, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Flynn and Evelyn McKeown. He was born July 5, 1935 in Retsof the son of Delbert and Louise (Mosele) Pringle. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Wednesday and Thursday. Memorials may be made to York United Presbyterian Church Telephone Ministry, P.O. Box 411, York NY 14592. Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neil Frood officiating. Burial, Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.

Roy J. Sica

Roy J. Sica, 87, a retired track supervisor for Genesee and Wyoming Railroad in Retsof, died Oct. 10, 2002 at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw, N.Y. He is survived by his children, Jerry Sica of Retsof, Rose (Bernd) Westphal of Clifton Park, N.Y., Mary Mielke of Youngstown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kristina, Nicole and Deborah Sica, Melissa (David) Kennedy, Jeniffer Mielke and Karl Westphal; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Antoinette Sica in February 2000. He was born July 27, 1915 in Retsof the son of Carmine and Rossaria (D'Aprile) Sica. He and his wife were well-known throughout Livingston County for their award winning cider produced at Sica's Cider Mill located at their residence in Retsof. Visitation was held at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home Inc., 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Retsof Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 92, Retsof NY 14539. Funeral Services were held Oct. 12 at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof with Father Michael Murimi officiating. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.

Alice M. Smith

Alice M. Smith, 83, died Oct. 11, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mrs. Smith resided on Wallace Road in the Town of York. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Davis of Franklinville, N.Y.; grandson John Davis Jr. of Greenbelt, MD, granddaughters, Michelle Davis of London, England, Susan Davis of Franklinville, N.Y.; sisters, Arlene (Harold) Stewart of Retsof, Lorraine Slane of Pavilion; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Irving, her son George, her daughter Patricia and her sister Frances Seaman. She was born Dec. 5, 1918 in York, the daughter of Ray and Georgiana (Biggart) Milligan. She was a member of Covington United Presbyterian Church Women' Circle, the Pavilion Card Club, the Ladies Home Bureau and the York Towners. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Monday. Memorials may be made to Covington United Presbyterian Church, 1701 Craig Rd., Pavilion NY 14525. Funeral services were held Oct. 15 at the Covington United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ray Lindquist officiating. Burial, Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
