In Memoriam

Jane E. Davies

Jane E. Davies, 88, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Nov. 17, 2002. Jane was born in Caledonia on Jan. 26, 1914 and had lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1963. She was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ and was an active member of the Women's Fellowship. She also served a term as a Deaconess on the Deaconate as well as being a volunteer at the Akron City Hospital. She is survived by Donald, her husband of 55 years; their son, Bruce of Cuyahoga Falls; a daughter, Deborah and her husband Greg McCoy along with their daughter, Sarah. Jane also leaves her brother, John Duncan MacPherson of Caledonia, all of whom will cherish her memory and feel a deep sense of gratitude for having her with them for so many happy years. Rev. Kirk Bruce will conduct a Memorial Service at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. The burial will be at the cemetery in Mumford at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, a gift may be made to either the Memorials Committee at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls OH 44221 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301, Akron OH 44313.

Bernard E. Nesbitt

Bernard E. “Brud” Nesbitt, 76, a Rochester Telephone retiree, died Nov. 13, 2002 at his residence on Jacqueline Way in Geneseo. He is survived by his wife Ann Marie West Nesbitt of Geneseo; two sons, Robert Nesbitt of Key West, Fla. and Charles (Charleen) Nesbitt of Geneseo; granddaughter Kathryn Nesbitt of Geneseo; sister Lenore Moran of Warsaw; sister-in-law Dorothy West of Livonia; brothers-in-law, Anthony “Bud” West and James West Sr., both of Lakeville; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Brockport, N.Y. the son of Samuel and Ella (Pye) Nesbitt. He was a graduate of St. Agnes School in Avon and Livonia Central School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Brud was an avid golfer and longtime member of Livingston Country Club in Geneseo and Old Hickory Golf Club in Livonia. Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Scholarship Fund, 13 North St., Geneseo NY 14454 or St. Joseph's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 77, Livonia NY 14487. Funeral Mass was held Nov. 16 at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial, St. Michael's Cemetery in Livonia.

Frieda Pagano

Frieda Pagano, 86, of 1 Prospect St., Mt. Morris. died Nov. 13, 2002 at the Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris. She was born the daughter of Pasquale and Concetta (Tarenjohno) LaBarbera on Dec. 17, 1915 in Mt. Morris. She was a life resident of Mt. Morris where she was a member of St. Patrick's Church and a former member of St. Lucy's Rosary Society. She is survived by her two children, Marie Pagano of Palmyra and Anthony (Jane Fixter) of Mt. Morris; four grandchildren, Tessa, Casey, Adam and Jude, all of Mt. Morris; one brother-in-law Peter (Jean) Pagano of Mt. Morris; one sister-in-law Mary Monroe of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry in 1984. Friends called Thursday at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mt. Morris where prayers were said Friday followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial, St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church, Home and Heart Project, 46 Stanley St, Mt. Morris NY 14510.

Phyllis Scorsone

Phyllis Scorsone, formerly of Lima Road, Geneseo for 50 years, died Nov. 12, 2002 of cancer at the F.F. Thompson Continuing Care Center in  Canandaigua with her family at her side. She was born in 1916, the daughter of Carmello and Patrina Sceusa of Avon. She was a child care provider for many years in Geneseo and well known in the community. Phyllis was a long time member of the Livingston County Women's Republican club where she participated and modeled in many Republican Fashion Shows. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish. She was predeceased by her husband Peter J. Scorsone Sr. in 1979. They had been happily married for 39 years and had five children. She is survived by her loving children, Peter (Kathy) Scorsone of Geneseo, Trudy (Bob) Byrnes of Fairport, Patti (Jerry) Smith of Geneseo, Phyllis (Pat) Shepard of Mt. Morris, Barbara (Steven) Thompson of Rush; brother Sam Sceusa of Mt. Morris; sister Angelina Cosgriff of Tully, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held at the Shepard Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
