Frances E. Arsenault

Retired purchasing agent

Frances E. Arsenault, 86, a retired purchasing agent for the Shipley Company of Newton, Mass., died Nov. 28, 2003 at the home of her daughter, 5348 Groveland Rd. in Geneseo. Mrs. Arsenault was a longtime resident of Newton, Mass. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Caren and Philip Irons IV of Geneseo; grandchildren, Courtney Irons, Autumn Irons and Philip Irons V, all of Geneseo; sister-in-law Lillian Jennings of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Arsenault in 1962. She was born Nov. 23, 1917 in Concord, Mass. the daughter of John and Frances (Walsh) Jennings. She was a graduate of the Boston School of Business. Calling hours were held Sunday at the Henry J. Burke Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. in Wellesley, Mass. Funeral Services were held Dec. 1 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with Father Michael Marone officiating. Burial, Newton Cemetery, Newton, Mass. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 23 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Louis Braccio

World War II Army veteran

Louis Braccio, 92, a retired supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Endicott, N.Y., died Nov. 30, 2003 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, N.Y. Mr. Braccio lived at Morganview Estates in Geneseo and was previously from Endicott. He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Richard) Young of Lancaster, Pa., Lucille (Geoffrey) Staley of Geneseo; son Joseph (Pamela) Braccio of Orchard Park, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rachel and Alison Staley of Geneseo, Carmen and Elena Braccio of Orchard Park; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Braccio of Sept. 20, 2002. He was born Feb. 7, 1911 in Newark, N.J., the son of Joseph and Lucia (Mastrianni) Braccio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. No prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Daniel McMullin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo with full military honors. Edward R. Dieter

Vietnam Veteran of U.S. Army

Edward R. Dieter, 63, of Rochester Road in Lakeville, died Nov. 29, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born the son of Ralph and Mildred Boise Dieter on Feb. 23, 1940 in Rochester. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Harrison Lee American Legion in Livonia Center and was owner of Barns Etc! of Lakeville. He was predeceased by his mother Mildred (Carl) Specht; father Ralph Dieter; sisters, Shirley Sills and Marlene Boehles. He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters, Suzette (Wes) Austin and Sarah Dieter, all of Austin, Texas; son Philip (Jen) Dieter of Lima; grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler and Riley Dieter, Nicholas Russell; brother-in-law Stanley Sills of Florida; stepsons, David and Dustin Allan of Lakeville. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Kevin W. Betty S. Parnell

Retired supervisor

Betty S. Parnell, 78, a retired supervisor for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, Geneseo office, died Nov. 26, 2003 at Presbyterian Nursing Home in Evanston, Illinois. Mrs. Parnell and her late husband Alfred were longtime residents of Greigsville. She is survived by her daughter Sally (Ted) Miller of Evanston, Ill.; step grandchildren, Hannah and Daniel Miller of Evanston, Ill.; brothers, Jack Stirling of Memphis, Tenn. and Leonard Stirling of Pamplin, Va.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred on July 8, 1983. She was born March 13, 1925 in Perry, N.Y. the daughter of Ernest and Nina (Vary) Stirling. She was a former member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church and the Geneseo Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. No prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Geneseo United Methodist Church with Rev. Nadine Graham officiating. Burial, Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York. Gary D. Sobel

Mt. Morris resident

Gary D. Sobel, 56, of 56 Murray St., Mt. Morris, died Nov. 30, 2003 at the Livingston County Campus Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Morris after a long illness. He was born on Feb. 20, 1947 in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Seymour Chemical Company, of the Mt. Morris Fire Department and the Carnival Committee. He is survived by his wife Marie; son Robbie of Mt. Morris; one aunt, cousins and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his mother Ruth Sobel. Friends may call Wednesday 1-3 p.m. at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mt. Morris where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. with Rabbi Robert Morais officiating. Burial, Mt. Morris Cemetery. Virginia P. Swarts

Former Caledonia resident

Virginia P. (Ginny) Swarts, 69, beloved mother, dearest sister, treasured friend, of Bradenton, Fla., and Caledonia, died Nov. 28, 2003 in Bradenton, Fla. surrounded by her family. She was born July 19, 1934 in Rochester to Charles R. and Virginia (Miller) Place. Her husband, Sidney Swarts and sister, Glenn Mary (Midge) Martin predecease Ginny. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Joseph Niedzwick of Bradenton, Fla., Melinda (Mindi) and Richard McDermott of Lafayette, Colo.; grandchildren, Cori (James) Annis of Holmes Beach, Fla., Jody (Doug) Naeher, also of Holmes Beach, Fla., Jonathan (Amy) Niedzwick of Bradenton; great-grandchildren, Brock and Brandon Annis, Lila Naeher; sister, Joan (Martin) Solberg of Newport, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Lois (Bob) Waldron of Clifton Springs, N.Y., Roberta Arnold of Lompoc, Calif., Barb (Ken) Burmeister of Painted Post, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Phil D'Angelo of Caledonia. She was a native of Caledonia and a member of the First Presbyterian Church there. When she moved to Bradenton in 1991, she became a member of the Braden River Church. She was active in her church, community and organizations too numerous to mention. Her years as a travel agent for Van Zile Travel Agency took her all over the world, and her many interests - golf, music, travel, and bingo - kept her always on the go. Friends are invited to call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St. in Caledonia. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, 1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 W. Main St., Caledonia. Private interment, Mumford Rural Cemetery in Mumford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Caledonia Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 3, Caledonia NY 14423. A memorial service will be held for Ginny in Bradenton, Fla. at a later date. She enriched the lives of all who knew her, and her strength and support were freely offered to anyone in need. Although she was taken from us too soon, we take comfort in knowing that her beautiful voice is singing with the angels now.

Helen L. Trempe

Helen L. Trempe, 92, died Nov. 29, 2003 at Mainline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paoli, Pa. She was predeceased by her husband Robert F.Trempe in 1969. She is survived by her son Robert (Susan) Trempe of Valley Forge, Pa.; daughter Elaine (Charles) Scruggs of Geneseo; grandchildren, Robert Trempe of Philadelphia, Pa., Stephen Trempe of Berwyn, Pa., Charles L. Scruggs of Geneseo, Amy (Billy) Wade of Brighton, Robert Scruggs of Chapel Hill, N.C., Emily Scruggs of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her sister Marie Franks of Bay Village, Ohio; nieces and nephews. She was born Feb. 13, 1911 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Eva (Bahm) Brandt. No prior calling hours. Private Funeral Services will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo with Rev. Steve Sweeting officiating. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, N.Y.
