Ruby Anderson

Former Mt. Morris resident

Ruby Anderson, 75, of 94 Main St., Dansville, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Dec. 12, 2005 at the Livingston County Center of Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. She was born on Sept. 12, 1930 in Barden, Fla. She is survived by her brother George Anderson of Mt. Morris and sister Eleanor Anderson. She was predeceased by her friend Willie Jackson in 1999. Friends may call Friday 10-11 a.m. at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (route 408), Mt. Morris where Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Burial, Mt. Morris Cemetery. Evelyn A. Barefoot

Caledonia resident

Evelyn A. Barefoot, 87, of Caledonia and Warsaw, died Dec. 7, 2005 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born July 8, 1918 in Buffalo to Fred A. and Florence B. Reiner. Her husband James A. Barefoot predeceases Mrs. Barefoot. She is survived by her children, Karen (Fred) Cwiklinski of Fillmore, N.Y., Sid (Donna) Barefoot of LeRoy, Jon (Liz) Barefoot of Caledonia, David (Dorie) Barefoot of Caledonia, Ruth Keller of Henrietta, Murrelle Bishop of Montgomery, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Reiner of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers, Howard Reiner, James (Doty) Reiner, of Arcade, N.Y., Mark (Sue) Reiner of Holland, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Friends and family called Dec. 9, 2005 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia where her Funeral Service was held Dec. 10. Her interment was held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, York. Gerald J. Kurtz

Gunlocke retiree

Wayland - Gerald J. Kurtz, 94, of 3231 Route 21, passed away Dec. 7, 2005 at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1911 in Wayland the son of Joseph and Helena (Pirrung) Kurtz. He grew up in Wayland, spent a few years in the Rochester area and eventually moved back to Wayland where he has lived the majority of his life. Gerald and Irene Adams entered into a loving marriage on Oct. 5, 1940. Together they have celebrated over 65 years of marriage. Gerald's employment career included over 35 years as a spindle carver at the Gunlocke Chair Company. While at Gunlocke, Gerald also owned and operated his own farm in Wayland raising different crops and milking several cows. He farmed at night and on weekends and upon retirement he worked even harder on his farm as it became his full time endeavor. Gerald enjoyed playing baseball and football. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting and bowling and he was a great story teller. After retirement Gerald and Irene loved traveling. They traveled all over the world visiting such places as Prince Edward Islands, the Bahamas, Canadian Rockies, cruising to Alaska when he was almost 90 and to Europe which included visits to Paris, Austria and Switzerland. He even enjoyed the roller coasters at Space Mountain in Florida. Gerald was a good man that will be missed by all of his family and friends. He was predeceased by both his parents, Joseph and Helena Kurtz; infants Joseph and John Kurtz; son-in-law Dr. Allen Jeter; and siblings, Pauline Constantine, Jacob Kurtz, Hilda Gilligan, Helen Walker, Joseph Kurtz, and Erwin Kurtz. He is survived by his loving wife Irene Kurtz of Wayland; his children, Donald (Barb) Kurtz of Denver, Colo., Richard (Sally) Kurtz of Homer, N.Y., Dr. Elaine Jeter of Carlisle, S.C., Dr. Theresa (Dr. Mike Schur) Kurtz of Washington, D.C., Gerald (Julie) Kurtz of Atlanta, William (Chris Kiel) Kurtz of Rochester, Kathleen (Karl) Bawel of Clearwater, Fla., and Donna Kurtz of Rochester; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Coleman of Wayland, Catherine (John) Clapp of Rochester and Elizabeth Roberts of Portsmouth, N.H.; sisters-in-law, Mildred Kurtz of Wayland Frances Kurtz of Calif.; along with several nieces and nephews. Gerald's family and friends called Thursday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St. in Wayland. A prayer service took place Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church in Wayland. Interment and committal prayers took place immediately following Mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in Gerald J. Norma J. (Hassett) Walton

Caledonia resident

Norma J. Walton, of Caledonia, died Dec. 8, 2005 at the Teresa House, Geneseo. She was born July 4, 1919 in Wyoming, N.Y. to Louis and Mary Grohs. Mrs. Walton was a member of the Pavilion Methodist Church and the Linwood Friendly Club. She enjoyed Square Dancing with the Pavilion Way Wheelers Club, and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Walton of Caledonia; children, Louis (Jeanette) Hassett of Rush, Norma (Donald) Werner of Caledonia, Elaine (Ronald) Herman of Caledonia; grandchildren, Ronald (Alexandria) Werner, Kathleen (Frank) Deluca; great grandchildren, Cameron and Colby Werner; sisters, Evelyn McManis of Rush, Doris (Bernard) Nevison of Tonawanda; several nieces and nephews. Her sister, Janet Guilford predeceases Mrs. Walton. Family and friends called Dec. 11 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W.Main St., Caledonia. Her Funeral Service was held Dec. 12 at the United Presbyterian Stone Church, 3177 Church St., Caledonia. Her interment was held at the Pavilion Cemetery.
