John R. Baum

John R. Baum, “Jack”, 76, of Avon, died Dec. 4, 2002 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. He was born July 27, 1926 in Rochester to Leo J. and Susan (Murphy) Baum. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Smith Warren Post 367 in Scottsville. Jack retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester. He enjoyed reading and all sports especially bowling. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Gladys (Slater) Baum of Avon; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Mary Jo of Doylestown, Pa., Craig and Kay of Plano, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mike McEvoy of Avon; grandchildren, Matthew, Jesse, Chris, Brittany, Savannah Baum, Elizabeth, Patrick, and Jilleen McEvoy; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence F. and Ginny Baum of Henrietta; sister-in-law, Marion Baum of Gates. Friends called Dec. 9, at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee St. in Avon. His Funeral Mass was held Dec. 10 at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery. Roger E. Bell

Roger E. Bell, 77, of Scenery Place, Conesus, died Dec. 11, 2002, at his home. He was born the son of Nathaniel and Kathleen Stoddard Bell on Sept. 14, 1925. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an auto mechanic for many years. He was predeceased by his son James Bell. He is survived by his wife Dolores; children, Elizabeth (Tom) Linsner of Piffard, Joy Timothy of Geneseo, Debby Shaw of Indiana, Martie (Kevin) Nevin of New York, Roger Bell Jr., of LeRoy; stepchildren, David Domville of Conesus, Joyce Domville of Canandaigua and Charlotte (Don) Everson of Phelps; several grandchildren; brother Roy (Helen) Bell of Penn Yan; many close friends and neighbors. Friends called Friday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15, Livonia where Funeral Services were held following calling, with the Rev. Tim Hazlett officiating. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Geneseo. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 County Campus, Mt. Jeanette M. Crane

Jeanette M. Crane, 73, of County Road 36 in Honeoye, died Dec. 10, 2002 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born on Aug. 16, 1929 in South Souix City, Neb. She owned and operated the Sewing Basket in Honeoye for many years. She is survived by her husband Lawrence; children, Catharine Crane and Thomas (Dawn) Crane, all of Honeoye; six grandchildren; sisters, Bobby (Chuck) Becker of MI and Phyllis Sparks of Calif.; aunt, Mildred Burke of MS; several nieces and nephews. Marion I. Crane

Marion I. Crane, 86, a retired licensed practical nurse for the city of West Palm Beach, Florida's Hospice Care, died Dec. 11, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Mrs. Crane resided on Meghan Dr. in Geneseo. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Donald) Barber of Conesus Lake, Debra Quait of Geneseo; one son Robert Quait of Groveland; seven grandchildren, Leslie (Eric) Scoville, Laurie (John) McCurdy, Donald Barber Jr., Robert (Monette) Quait, Melissa (Jeremy) Palmer, Amy (Thomas) Lewis, Wendy (Christopher) Quait; seven great granddaughters; three sisters, Rachel Moore of Groveland, Elizabeth Swartz of Dansville, Joyce (Harold) Wester of Hammondsport, N.Y.; one brother Murray (Norma) Crane of Dansville; sister-in-law Diane Crane of Dansville; many nieces, nephews and loving caregivers, Donna Cook, Julie Love, Marie Haynes and Linda Lee. She was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Irwin and her two brothers, Raymond and John Crane. She was born April 17, 1916 in Groveland, the daughter of Raymond and Nina (Ridley) Crane. She was a graduate of the Rochester School of Nursing. She was a member of the Groveland Federated Parish. She was very well known throughout the area for her homemade pies, supplying many local restaurants. Visitation was held at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home on Friday. Funeral Services were held Dec. 14 at the Groveland Federated Parish with Rev. Sally Glassbrook officiating. Burial, Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland. Steven K. McCauley

Steven K. McCauley, 54, a self employed farmer, died Dec. 16, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He resided on Wise Road in Groveland. He is survived by his wife Linda Harrison of Groveland; stepdaughters, Amy Buckson of Geneseo, Krista Buckson of Groveland; step grandson Jordan Babcock of Groveland; brother Ted (Mae) McCauley of Groveland; sister Fran (Gordon) Hawk of Groveland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Irene McCauley. He was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Dansville, the son of Kenneth and Irene (Andrews) McCauley. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Hazlett of the United Church of Livonia officiating. Burial, Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland. Memorials may be made to the Teresa House, 21 Highland Rd., Geneseo NY 14454 or Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo NY 14454. Kathleen L. NiCastro Kathleen L. NiCastro, 83, of 8506 W. Buckingham St., Honeoye, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Dec. 12, 2002 at her home after a long illness. She was born on June 14, 1919 the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy (Carson) Lennox in Geneseo. Prior to her retirement in 1974 she was employed at the Rochester State Hospital and the TB Hospital in Mt. Morris as an attendant. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Club in Dansville. She is survived by her daughter Gloria; two sisters, Shirley Jacobs of Honeoye and June (Paul) Elder of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and many dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1988. Friends called Tuesday at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408) Mt. Morris where funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dansville Moose Club, 6 Main St., Dansville, NY 14437.

Francis Martin Shelly

Francis Martin Shelly, 88, of 405 James Love School Road, Shelby, N.C. died Dec. 13, 2002 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C. He was born the son of John and Anna Shelly on March 31, 1914 in Livonia. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a foreman for the railroad in Lackawanna and he resided in Alden before moving to Florida and then to North Carolina. He is predeceased by his wife Olive. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn (Dennis) Kephart of New Jersey and Kathleen (Leonard) Hutchinson of North Carolina; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter; brother Edward (Rosemary) Shelly of Rochester; sister Mildred Parmalee of Honeoye Falls; nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Prayers were said Saturday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. 21 Big Tree St. (Routes 15 & 20A) Livonia, followed by a funeral mass a St. Joseph's Church in Livonia with the Rev. John Hayes officiating. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, Livonia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Ellen F. Smith

Ellen F. Smith, 81, of 18 Penbrooke Dr., Penfield died Dec. 12, 2002 at St. Ann's Home in Rochester. She was born on Jan. 27, 1921 in Mt. Morris, the daughter of William and Helen (Dwyer) Flynn. She graduated from Nazareth College in 1943 and received her Masters Degree from St. Bonaventure in 1944. She resided in Warren, Pa. from 1957 to 1971. She was employed as a Food Specialist at Hegedors Grocery Store in Rochester. She is survived by her four children, Douglas W. (Margaret) Smith of Virginia, Jeffrey R. (Sandra) Smith of the Virgin Islands, William G. Smith of Lima and Elizabeth S. (Roger) Morgan of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; one sister-in-law Betty Flynn of Mt. Morris; three nephews; special friends, John and Pam Peck of Pittsford and Karen and Barry Hagenbach of Webster. She was predeceased by her brother Jerry Flynn in 2000. No prior calling. Prayers will be said Thursday at 9 a.m. at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St., (Route 408), Mt. Morris followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneseo. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Ann's Community or the American Lung Association.
