Red Cross volunteer

Dorothy S. Chichester, age 84 of 5651 North Sutton Point, Conesus Lake died Friday December 19, 2003 suddenly at her home. She was born the daughter of Robert Ray & Phoebe (Wing) Spears Sr. in Batavia, NY on December 19, 1919. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives, member of Livingston County REACT, former Den mother of the Cub Scouts Pack 74 in Rochester and former member ofthe Eastern Star in Attica. She was predeceased by her husband Irving in 1991. She is survived by her 4 Children Bob (Jean) Chichester of Henrietta, Fred Chichester of Livonia, Ann (Paul) VanDeVelt of Lima & Barb (Glenn) Marcus of Mendon. 5 Grandchildren Patrick (Jen) Chichester of Conesus, Christopher (Melissa), Lanye & Matt Chichester all of Rochester & Timothy VanDeVelt of Lima. 3 Great Grandchildren J.C. Davis & Emma Chichester both of Rochester & Erika Chichester of Conesus. 3 Brothers Rev. Robert R. (Charlotte) Spears Jr. of Rochester, George (Leona) Spears of E. Aurora & Hugh Spears of Lackawanna. Sister Amy (Maury) Schlossberg of AZ. Sister-in-law Pat (David) Darron of CA. Nieces and Nephews. No Prior Calling. Memorial Services to be held at a later date. Burial Mt. Morris Cemetery. Marjorie W. Grattan

Member of Eastern Star

Marjorie W. Grattan age 75 yr. of Clifton died December 16, 2003 at the Benincasa Hospice, Mendon, NY. She was born September 9, 1928 in Naples, NY to Leon and Louise (Jennings) Washburn. Marjorie enjoyed sewing, needle work, and bowling. She was a member of the Clifton Baptist Church, Ladies Craft Group, the Clifton Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star, Caledonia Eunice Lodge. Marjorie was an Honoree for her dedication to the Caledonia-Mumford Youth Baseball organization. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren¹s sports activities. Marjorie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Richard and Linda, Ronald and Robin, Randy and Donna Grattan all of Caledonia; nine grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Sam Serio of Mumford; brother, Robert Washburn, of Henrietta; several nieces and nephews. Her husband, George Grattan Jr. predeceases Marjorie in 1997. Friends called Sunday at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. Her Funeral Service was held Monday at the Clifton Baptist Church. Interment, Maple Grove Cemetery, Clifton. Gerald W. Hulbert Sr.

World War II Army veteran

Gerald W. Hulbert Sr., 78, of LaGrange Road, Pavilion, formerly of Avon, died Dec. 17, 2003 at Buffalo VA Hospital. He was born the son of John and Amy Bailey Hulbert in Canisteo. He was a World War II Army veteran where he was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Joseph Gallipeau American Legion Post in Avon and the VFW Post 5292 in Avon. He was very active in the Avon Little League where he was a past coach. He was predeceased by his siblings, Otis Hulbert, Flora Hulbert, Norma Woodard Butler, Norman Woodard, Regina Woodard Pendleton and Rena Woodard Gardner. He was a retired truck driver for JN White Designs in Perry. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Stratton Hulbert; children, Geraldine (Denis Platten) Baylor of Oakfield, N.Y., JoAnne (Frank) Leone of Avon, Julia (Ronnie) Kapelke of Batavia, Gerald (Priscilla) Hulbert Jr. of Perry, Jane Simonds of Batavia, Gene (Lynn Rae) Hulbert of Gainesville, Joseph (Sonia) Hulbert of Piffard; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Roberta (Russell) Conklin of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 27 from 1-3 p.m. only at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15, Livonia where services will follow calling at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make memorial contributions to the Primary Care Unit at Batavia VA Hospital, 220 Richmond Ave., Batavia NY 14020.

Ronald V. Reed

Former Avon resident

Ronald V. Reed, of Amherst, N.Y. formerly of Avon, died Oct. 18, 2003. He was former owner of the Reed Brothers Construction Company in Avon. He is survived by his wife, Jacci (nee Smith); children, David E. Reed of Avon, Colleen E. Langless of Avon, Robert V. (Kellie) Reed of Rochester; grandchildren, Jessica, Paige, Kyle, Jordyn, Jack, Brennan and Kevin; mother, Agnes Evarts of Canandaigua and the late Vincent F. Reed; Donna (late Joseph) Petrone of Ft. Meyers, Fla., James R. Reed of Conesus Lake, Patrick (Susan) Reed of Santa Clarita, Calif., Guy Kevin (Carol) Reed of Rochester and Kelly (Chuck Laffin) Reed of Brockport; also survived by his former wife, Agnes K. Reed and a dearest friend Donald Van Auken; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Pius X Church in Amherst. John Simpson

John ³Jack² Simpson, 91, of Cleary Road, in Livonia, died Dec. 14, 2003 at his home. He was born Feb. 4, 1912 in Rochester. He was a member of the Lakeville Lions Club. He was predeceased by his daughter Jackie and his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Simpson, both in 2003. He is survived by his sons, Russell (Gail) Simpson, Jim (Judy) Simpson; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; brother Bill (Dolores) Simpson; sister-in-law Lorraine Simpson; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Route 15, Livonia, where services followed calling with the Rev. George Davis officiating. Burial, Mt.
